The Arizona Cardinals are nearing a trade that would send wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. elsewhere, with the former No. 4 overall pick set to sit out Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions while the deal is completed.
The destination has not been announced. Houston has held discussions with Arizona about Harrison, making the Texans one club connected to the negotiations.
Indianapolis, despite obvious family ties, is not part of the trade talks. Harrison’s father, Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, spent his entire NFL career with the Colts from 1996 through 2008.
Former fourth overall pick has had a slow start
Arizona selected Harrison out of Ohio State with the fourth pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, expecting him to become a cornerstone of the passing game. The third-year receiver has not matched that draft position so far, and his numbers have dipped sharply through four games this season.
Harrison has caught five of 13 targets for 85 yards and one touchdown. His absence against Detroit leaves the Cardinals without one of their most prominent offensive skill players as the organization works toward a potential move.
