Maxima Roma have taken their European campaign to Ankara with a quick response required after their domestic setback against Virtus Bologna. The Italian side began the EuroCup well against Cluj, beating the Romanian visitors convincingly in the opening round, but their second appointment brings a more demanding test on the court of Turk Telekom.
The game tipped off in Ankara at 18:30, with Vassilis Pitsilkas, Christian Theis and Ioannis Tsimpouris appointed as the officials. Roma arrive encouraged by their first European result, yet aware that the Turkish club have their own reason to make the evening count after opening the competition with a defeat at Tenerife.
Turk Telekom’s squad offers Roma several areas of concern. Ismael Bako brings athletic power around the basket, while Serbian guard Uros Trifunovic is among the hosts’ principal outside threats. For Roma, the trip is therefore more than a chance to build on a promising EuroCup debut: it is an early measure of how the group can respond away from home after a difficult league afternoon.
There is also anticipation around Roma for the forthcoming derby against BC Roma, adding another layer to a busy stretch of fixtures. Elsewhere in the EuroCup, Napoli are away in Montenegro, while Trento host Polish side Slask Wroclaw.
The Ankara contest is being shown live on Sky Sport Basket, channel 205.
