Messi’s Argentina Farewell Against Benin: Ticket Details for Monumental Clash

Buenos Aires is preparing for a farewell at the Monumental. Lionel Messi is set to make his final Argentina appearance against Benin on 6 October, with supporters able to buy tickets for the national team’s two River Plate stadium fixtures from Thursday.

The match will close Messi’s international career after the captain confirmed on 31 August that he would step aside following his most recent World Cup campaign, making room for a new generation in the Argentina squad.

Quick facts

  • Argentina v Benin: 6 October, Monumental Stadium, Buenos Aires.
  • Messi has been named in Lionel Scaloni’s 28-player group for three friendlies.
  • Argentina also face Bolivia in Córdoba on 30 September and Burkina Faso in Buenos Aires on 3 October.
  • Tickets for the Monumental matches go on sale on Thursday at 15:00 Central Mexico time.
  • Sales will be handled exclusively through Deportick and AFA Tickets.

The Rosario forward’s final homecoming is expected to be limited to the Benin fixture. He is not expected to play against Bolivia at Córdoba’s Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium, nor in the Burkina Faso match three days later, although his inclusion in the touring group is likely to intensify demand across the three-match window.

Messi leaves Argentina with 207 appearances, 125 goals and 68 assists. His senior international record includes four trophies, among them the World Cup, following a career that took the Albiceleste through numerous finals.

Monumental prices set for October fixtures

The same price structure applies for Argentina’s games against Burkina Faso and Benin at the Monumental. General-admission tickets are listed at 90,000, while children aged from three to 10 can enter the popular section for 29,000.

Seats in the upper Sívori and Centenario stands cost 180,000. Mid-tier Sívori and Centenario places are priced at 320,000, the same figure charged for upper San Martín and Belgrano seating.

Lower San Martín and Belgrano tickets are set at 450,000, while the mid-tier sections in those two stands carry the highest listed price, 480,000.

The farewell comes several months after Messi’s latest Argentina outing on home soil. He played at La Bombonera on 31 March in a World Cup 2026 warm-up friendly against Zambia, scoring in a 5-0 victory.

That night was a routine international date in Buenos Aires. The return to the Monumental against Benin will carry a different weight: one final appearance in Argentina colours for the captain who led the country to its long-awaited world title.
