Eleven minutes were enough for Michael Olise to change the mood around France on Monday night. Sent on with Belgium holding firm, the Bayern Munich forward carried the ball from deep inside his own half and struck the only goal in a 1-0 UEFA Nations League win.
Olise delivers late against Belgium
- France had already beaten Turkey by the same 1-0 scoreline on Friday, with Olise creating Kylian Mbappé’s winner.
- Against Belgium in the second round of Nations League fixtures, Olise began the match among the substitutes and entered in the 77th minute.
- Eleven minutes after coming on, Rayan Cherki found him in the French half.
- Olise controlled the pass with his shoulder, drove forward over almost the full length of the pitch and reached the edge of the Belgian penalty area.
- The 24-year-old then placed his effort beyond the Belgian goalkeeper to settle the contest in France’s favour.
The goal was Olise’s eighth for Les Bleus and his first since a June hat-trick against Northern Ireland in a 3-1 World Cup 2026 warm-up victory.
After supplying Mbappé three days earlier, Olise again provided the decisive attacking moment. France had needed a player capable of breaking the game open; the Bayern man did it alone, turning a tight international night into another narrow win.
