France’s 4-1 Nations League win over Belgium accelerated sharply in its closing minutes, with Michael Olise turning a comfortable finish into a statement of attacking depth. The Bayern Munich winger supplied Rayan Cherki before scoring twice himself in a devastating late spell.
Quick facts
- France beat Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League.
- Michael Olise, 24, registered one assist and two goals.
- Olise set up Rayan Cherki in the 81st minute.
- His goals arrived in the 88th minute and three minutes later.
- Désiré Doué, France’s opening scorer, contributed to both of Olise’s finishes.
Olise first created Cherki’s goal in the 81st minute, then took charge in front of goal as Belgium’s resistance fell away. The winger has emerged strongly during 2026 and again showed the technical quality that has made him increasingly prominent for France.
For his first goal, Olise linked with Doué inside the Belgian area as normal time drew to a close. He then finished with his right foot, placing a low shot across Maarten Vandevoordt.
France struck again three minutes later. Cherki switched play from the right towards Doué on the left, and the Parisian found Olise in space inside the box.
Olise took the return pass and fired left-footed through Vandevoordt’s legs to complete the scoring. His decisive ten-minute contribution put the final gloss on a 4-1 French victory.
