Udine offered Milan the chance to steady themselves after a difficult European night, and the visitors took it with a composed 2-0 win over Udinese. Still unbeaten in Serie A, the Rossoneri moved to 18 points and remain in touch with Inter and Lazio, both on 22.
The news from the club
Milan made their decisive move inside the opening six minutes. Udinese conceded a free-kick near the halfway line, but Davis did not block the restart and Luka Modric reacted sharply. The Croatian released a clipped pass beyond the home defence, where Christian Pulisic brought the ball under control before finishing with precision.
The visitors had an opportunity to make the score more comfortable before the interval, only for Pulisic and Bartesaghi to get in each other’s way in front of an unguarded net. It was a costly-looking miss at the time, but Milan retained authority over the contest.
The second goal arrived in the 65th minute through Hutchinson, giving Milan the margin their performance had merited. Udinese attempted to find a route back into the match but lacked the cutting edge required to test the away side seriously.
Gonçalo Ramos came close to adding another when his effort struck the crossbar, yet Milan saw out the evening without losing their defensive shape. The result keeps them among the leading group in Italy and helps put their midweek continental disappointment behind them.
