Monaco Forward Oumar Konaté Joins Laval on Loan

Monaco’s summer glimpse of Oumar Konaté will now give way to a tougher stage of his development. The 19-year-old forward, who made his Ligue 1 debut against Le Havre in August, has joined Laval on loan for the rest of the season.

Monaco send young striker to Laval

Konaté moves to the Ligue 2 side without a purchase option, with Monaco viewing the arrangement as a development loan rather than a step towards a permanent departure.

  • The loan runs until the end of the current season.
  • Laval have no option to buy the player.
  • Konaté is a central striker and an Ivory Coast Under-20 international.
  • Laval are bottom of Ligue 2, sitting 18th at the time of the move.

A brief first-team introduction in Monaco

The striker had only recently entered the view of Monaco supporters. He featured during the club’s pre-season preparations and was then used in the opening Ligue 1 match of the campaign.

Konaté came on in Monaco’s 1-0 victory over Le Havre on 23 August, marking his first appearance in France’s top division.

Next step after 2025 arrival

Konaté arrived in the Principality from Ivory Coast in the summer of 2025. Monaco have now chosen regular senior football in Ligue 2 as the next step for the teenager, with Laval offering him a chance to continue his progress in a demanding situation at the foot of the table.
