Montpellier Beat Grenoble to Move Provisionally Second

Montpellier resumed after the long break with the home crowd watching a side climb again: Zoumana Camara’s men saw off Grenoble and moved provisionally into second place.

The Ligue 1 news

Montpellier made a winning return to action against Grenoble, taking all three points in a 2-0 home victory. Nicolas Pays set the tone with a corner that went straight into the net, giving the Hérault side an early route towards a result that lifts them to second in the table, at least for now.

Elsewhere, Pau stopped a damaging run of four consecutive defeats by beating Laval 3-2. The result carries Pau into the top 10 and leaves Laval with deeper concerns at the bottom of the standings.

Laval remain last and have now gone six matches without a win. Their loss at Pau was also their fourth defeat across the past five league rounds.

Annecy also found a breakthrough at Dunkerque. Having previously failed to win on three occasions after scoring first this season, Annecy held onto their lead this time and secured a 1-0 away success.
