Monza and Sassuolo open the fifth round of the 2026-27 Serie A season with two coaches setting out clear selections for an early evening that may offer an important indication of their sides’ direction.
Ivan Juric has named Törnqvist in goal for Monza, behind a three-man defensive line of Kouadio, Lucchesi and Carboni. Birindelli and Mangas are stationed on the flanks, with Folorunsho and Akinsanmiro completing the midfield unit.
Robinson and Cutrone will operate behind Varela, who leads the Monza attack. It is a selection built around the work of the wide players and the capacity of Cutrone and Robinson to connect midfield with the lone forward.
Aquilani turns to experience and width
Sassuolo coach Alberto Aquilani starts Muric between the posts. His back four consists of Cinquegrano, Caleta-Car, Leysen and Doig, while Bakola, Matic and Thorsvedt form the midfield three.
Berardi and Laurienté are selected either side of Esposito in the visiting front line. Sassuolo will look to their wide forwards for the attacking threat as they begin a new Serie A weekend against a Monza side seeking to make its home ground count.
