In Uruguay, the Copa AUF meeting between Nacional and Rentistas became a small testing ground for matchday administration, with a new device used to record incidents more quickly.
The equipment was introduced in place of the familiar acrylic boards traditionally used around the pitch. Its purpose is to streamline the registration of events during a match, bringing a more efficient process to a competition that sits within the country’s domestic football calendar.
Nacional and Rentistas provided the setting for the trial, as organisers examined whether the new system can improve the handling of on-field incidents in future fixtures.
