Napoli will have to navigate two significant fixtures without Massimiliano Allegri on the touchline after the Serie A sporting judge imposed a two-match ban on the coach following Saturday’s match against Roma.
Allegri will be forced to watch from the stands for Wednesday’s midweek trip to Monza and for next Sunday’s meeting with Juventus, a particularly charged appointment in Napoli’s league campaign.
Disciplinary ruling after Roma match
The sanction was issued over disrespectful remarks directed at match officials during the game against Roma. The disciplinary decision rules Allegri out of Napoli’s next two league matches, leaving the club to manage a demanding stretch without their coach in the technical area.
The Monza away match comes first in the midweek round, before Napoli travel to Turin to face Juventus at the weekend.
Napoli to challenge the suspension
Napoli have confirmed that they intend to appeal the punishment after requesting access to the relevant documents.
“SSC Napoli announces, following its request to examine the documents, that it will lodge an appeal against the two-match suspension imposed on coach Massimiliano Allegri,” the club said.
