Napoli and Roma will bring one of Italian football’s enduring rivalries to the Maradona on Saturday 24 October, with the eighth-round meeting also set to become the first Serie A match of the 2026-27 season available free to watch on DAZN.
A major fixture opened to a wider audience
The 18:00 kick-off in Naples has been selected for DAZN’s free live-streaming initiative, allowing viewers to follow the match without a subscription after registering on the platform through its Try & Buy offer.
It is the first of a limited number of league broadcasts to be made available in this way during the campaign. Across the 380-match Serie A season, DAZN can show up to five fixtures free of charge, exclusively on its streaming service.
- Fixture: Napoli v Roma
- Serie A round: Matchday eight
- Date: Saturday 24 October
- Kick-off: 18:00
- Venue: Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
- Access: Free DAZN stream following platform registration
Roma’s chase meets Napoli’s European momentum
The match arrives at an important point in the early shape of the championship. Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma are firmly in third place, two points behind joint leaders Inter and Lazio.
Napoli, meanwhile, return to domestic duty after a Champions League victory. The occasion therefore joins a prestigious fixture with a table that is beginning to ask serious questions of the sides pursuing the summit.
For Roma, the trip south offers an opportunity to measure their standing against a Napoli side coming into the weekend encouraged by its European result. For the home club, the match provides another demanding test in front of a Maradona crowd accustomed to treating this contest as more than a routine league date.
Broadcaster and league see chance to grow the game
Andrea Faelli, chief executive of DAZN Italy, said the free broadcast renewed the company’s intention to bring a leading Italian football event to the broadest possible audience.
He described free streaming as a way of bringing supporters closer to the game, particularly younger viewers, while reflecting DAZN’s position as Serie A’s principal broadcaster. Faelli also said the initiative formed part of the wider group strategy to make major sporting occasions available live and without charge around the world, while developing more dynamic and participatory viewing experiences.
Lega Calcio Serie A chief executive Luigi De Siervo said the league’s continuing aim was to expand the audience for its matches. He welcomed the chance for supporters to watch Napoli-Roma free on Saturday simply by signing up to DAZN’s platform.
De Siervo added that the initiative could give further value to a major championship meeting and strengthen Serie A’s connection with its public.
