Nico Williams has left Spain’s international camp after a left-thigh problem ruled him out of the final two Nations League fixtures of the break.
The Ligue 1 news
The Athletic Club winger felt discomfort in his left thigh following Spain’s 4-1 victory over Croatia on Tuesday, a match in which he scored La Roja’s fourth goal.
Spain monitored the issue during the squad’s rest day, but Williams was unable to take part in Thursday’s training as the discomfort continued. Medical examinations led the Spanish Football Federation to release him from the squad so that he can continue his recovery with Athletic in Bilbao.
Athletic’s medical staff have been kept informed of the player’s condition throughout the international window.
Spain’s next appointment
Spain, the reigning world champions, face Czechia on Saturday at 20:45 before meeting Croatia again next Tuesday, also at 20:45. Williams will miss both matches.
