OL Lyonnes swept aside Le Havre 8-1 on Friday to make it three victories from three league matches and move to the top of the Arkema Première Ligue table, pending Paris Saint-Germain’s later fixture against Nantes.
The night also brought the first Video Assistant Referee intervention in the history of the championship. Around the half-hour, referee Charlène Laur was called to review a Le Havre handball inside the penalty area.
After the VAR review, Laur awarded a penalty. Ada Hegerberg converted in the 32nd minute to put Lyon 2-0 ahead, before the home side went on to complete their emphatic win.
Paris FC also collected three points away from home, winning 2-0 at Strasbourg. They did so without any VAR involvement.
The next appointment in France
Paris Saint-Germain were due to face Nantes later on Friday, with Lyon’s perfect start leaving them first in the standings before that match.
