Paris FC step into the new Women’s Champions League campaign on Wednesday with the hardest of opening nights: a trip to Barcelona, where the holders have made home victories feel almost routine.
Paris FC face Barcelona test in Champions League opener
The Parisian side travel to the Estadi Johan Cruyff for the first matchday of the 2026-27 league phase, a day after Paris Saint-Germain began their own European campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Real Madrid.
Barcelona arrive as the competition’s reigning champions after defeating OL Lyonnes 4-0 in last season’s final. They have won four of the past six editions of the tournament, reached each of the last six finals and sit first in the UEFA coefficient rankings. Their last home defeat came on 23 April 2025.
For Paris FC, the assignment comes after a difficult sequence on the road against elite opposition. They lost 2-0 at Bayern Munich and 1-0 against Arsenal in pre-season fixtures, before suffering a 7-1 Arkema Première Ligue defeat to OL Lyonnes.
Barcelona also beat Paris FC 2-0 when the clubs met during last season’s league phase. A positive result in Catalonia would nevertheless give Paris FC a valuable platform before Arsenal visit France next Wednesday.
