Spain dominate the final awards

Only one prize escaped the champions
North Korea captain Ri Kuk was the only player to prevent Spain from taking every leading individual award. The central defender’s recognition interrupted an otherwise overwhelming Spanish clean sweep, with Comendador taking the principal attacking and overall player prizes, López rewarded for her work in goal, and Rosalía earning recognition among the tournament’s best performers.
For Spain’s young players, the victory and the awards offer another signal of the depth now coming through the country’s women’s game. Comendador’s six-goal contribution set the attacking standard, but López’s penalty saves and a defence that went through the tournament unbeaten in goal made the difference when the title was on the line.
