From the locker room
Williams, entering his fifth season, re-signed with Phoenix in July on a three-year, $38 million deal after reaching restricted free agency.
The big man produced 11.7 points and 8.0 rebounds across 23.6 minutes per game last season. He appeared in a personal-best 60 games and opened 55 of them, an important availability step after injuries had repeatedly interrupted his earlier seasons.
Phoenix has not attached a target date to Williams’ rehabilitation or his return to basketball activity.
