Premier Sports will remain an NHL broadcaster through the 2028-29 season under an extended rights agreement that will put 15 live games a week in front of subscribers during both the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The schedule opens with a heavyweight matchup on 29 September, when the Florida Panthers visit the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. Canadian clubs take over the following night as the Montreal Canadiens meet the Toronto Maple Leafs, with the Vancouver Canucks also set to face the Edmonton Oilers.
Richard Sweeney, Premier Sports’ chief executive, said the renewal extends a relationship that began in 2011. He said the deal allows the network to continue carrying live games from the NHL while delivering added value to its established subscriber base.

The NHL package sits alongside Premier Sports’ continuing coverage of the Motorpoint Elite League. Its early autumn slate includes Glasgow against Manchester on 30 September at 7.15pm, Dundee versus Manchester on 7 October at 7.30pm, and Glasgow hosting Dundee on 14 October at 7.15pm. All three games are scheduled for Premier Sports 1.
In the UK, Premier Sports is carried through Sky, Virgin, STV Player and as an Amazon Prime add-on, with streaming also available through its apps and supported smart-TV and mobile platforms. The service operates two channels across the UK and Republic of Ireland, where its wider rights portfolio includes football, rugby, NASCAR and other live sport.
