PSG’s Kvaratskhelia Suffers Season-Ending ACL Injury Against Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain’s season has been dealt a major late blow after Kvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his knee during the Champions League win over Barcelona. The Georgian winger will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the campaign.

Kvaratskhelia faces surgery after Barcelona injury

Kvaratskhelia was injured following an incident involving Barcelona’s Xavi Espart. The seriousness of the problem appeared clear on the pitch as the PSG player clutched his knee and was unable to leave the field without assistance.

The injury ends his season at a decisive stage for the Paris club, with Kvaratskhelia now beginning a long rehabilitation process after the operation.

Georgian winger’s emotional message

In a message published on social media, Kvaratskhelia described the shock of the diagnosis and reflected on the difficult months ahead.

He said many people had contacted him and suggested that footballers everywhere were hoping the injury would prove less serious. But he explained that, before every match, he had asked simply to leave the field unharmed — and that this time it did not happen.

The 24-year-old admitted he has repeatedly asked himself why the setback happened to him. He said he had prepared for the Barcelona match more intensely than ever and believed he was ready for every challenge, though not for this one.

Kvaratskhelia added that he would accept the hard work, pain and tears of recovery if it could protect other players. He vowed to return stronger for those close to him, thanked supporters for their backing and promised that he would be back soon.
