PSG vs Lyon Kick-off Hinges on Paris Police Decision

Paris is waiting on a policing decision that could reshape the end of Ligue 1’s eighth round. Paris Saint-Germain’s home match against Lyon, currently set for Sunday at 20:45, remains on the schedule for now despite concerns over police availability during a weekend marked by fresh social tensions.

The move

The Paris police authorities have asked the LFP whether it is considering moving PSG v Lyon. The league has indicated that it sees no current reason to alter the fixture.

PSG against Lyon is among the major dates on the domestic calendar, and its Sunday slot places it after demonstrations planned for Saturday. The LFP has already accepted requests to switch several Saturday games to Sunday in response to the security situation.

That position could change if the Paris police authorities order a postponement. The LFP would comply, with competition regulations pointing to Monday evening as the earliest available replacement date.

A final decision is expected before Friday night. A quick announcement would be needed if the match is moved, allowing organisers to prepare security arrangements and supporter access for a new kick-off time.

The French season around it

A Monday switch would put the Ligue 1 fixture on the same evening as the Ballon d’Or presentation ceremony in London.

The LFP would also have to address the vacant Sunday 20:45 television window, an important prime-time slot for Ligue 1+. Marseille’s scheduled home game against Le Havre, due to begin at 17:15 on Sunday, is one of the possible alternatives.

Any move involving Marseille and Le Havre would require agreement from both clubs. Until the police decision arrives, PSG and Lyon are still preparing for their Sunday-night meeting.
