In Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain Women escaped with a point after spending much of the night under pressure, drawing 1-1 with Real Madrid in their opening Women’s Champions League fixture.

Paulo César’s side fell behind inside two minutes after a costly error from centre-back Paulina Dudek. The Paris defender gave the ball away to Real playmaker Arianna Caruso in the penalty area, and the Italian’s cross was turned in from close range by Felicia Schröder.
The 19-year-old Sweden international, signed from Häcken for €1.5 million, continued her fast start in Spain. Her opener was her sixth goal in five matches for Real Madrid, with Schröder having already won nine senior caps for Sweden.
Real had opportunities to make the contest safer before PSG found their response. In the 55th minute, Schröder ran through but was denied by goalkeeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek, with Thiniba Samoura also applying pressure. Three minutes later, the striker struck the post and failed to direct the rebound on target.
Paris had shown flashes before that turning point. Sakina Karchaoui delivered an inviting early cross for Isabela Chagas in the 10th minute, but the Brazilian was unable to take the chance.
The equaliser arrived in the 71st minute. Maëlle Lakrar fouled substitute Léa Morissaint, earning PSG a penalty, and Karchaoui converted calmly to bring the French side level.
There was still a late chance for the visitors to win it. Former Real Madrid forward Naomie Feller found space in the 86th minute but, with two teammates available centrally, drove her effort too far across goal.
PSG therefore begin their European campaign with one point after a difficult evening in Spain.
