Raúl Jiménez Set for Extended Wolves Absence as Knee Recovery Continues

From Wolverhampton to Mexico City, Raúl Jiménez’s knee recovery remains a concern on both sides of the Atlantic. The Mexican forward is not yet ready to resume playing for Wolverhampton and will require further time away from the pitch after the injury that ruled him out of Mexico’s most recent international window.

Jiménez missed Rafa Márquez’s first squad as Mexico manager, when El Tri played four matches against Colombia, Peru, the United States and Chile. His absence was felt particularly in attack, where Mexico were unable to establish the authority they wanted during the series of fixtures.

More time required at Wolves

There had been hope that the end of the international programme might bring Jiménez closer to a club return in the West Midlands. Instead, Wolverhampton coach César Peixoto has said the striker is still short of the condition needed to compete.

Peixoto stressed that the player has not experienced a setback. The continued absence is based on the medical assessment and on Jiménez’s own feelings as he works towards full confidence in the knee.

“His recovery will take a little longer,” Peixoto said. “There has been no regression; it is about the diagnosis and how Raúl feels. He is not comfortable enough yet.”

Wolves will therefore wait until the forward is fully prepared before bringing him back into match action. No timetable was offered for his return, leaving Jiménez’s immediate calendar uncertain as the club continues to manage the process cautiously.

Mexico await the next medical step

The situation also carries importance for Márquez and Mexico, whose next official commitments are scheduled for the middle of November. Whether Jiménez can return to the national set-up will depend on how quickly he progresses with Wolverhampton.

For now, the priority is not a hurried return for either club or country. Mexico are seeking greater continuity under their new coach, while Wolverhampton await the moment when one of their most experienced attacking figures feels ready to play again.
