Portugal will hand Rafael Leão Cristiano Ronaldo’s No. 7 shirt for the next two UEFA Nations League matchdays, following the forward’s unexpected departure from the national-team camp.
The iconic number, worn for years by Ronaldo in international football, will be used by the AC Milan attacker for Portugal’s third and fourth Nations League fixtures.
Leão’s selection for the shirt places one of Portugal’s leading younger forwards in a symbolic role during Ronaldo’s absence. The federation has already settled the decision for the upcoming matches, with Leão set to take the No. 7 jersey normally associated with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
