Bologna have turned to Raffaele Palladino after a bruising start to the campaign, ending Domenico Tedesco’s brief spell in charge following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Napoli.

The move
Bologna confirmed on Wednesday morning that Tedesco had been relieved of his duties, only months after taking over from Vincenzo Italiano on 2 June.
The Italo-German coach leaves with the Rossoblu in 16th place in Serie A. Bologna have taken one point from their first four league fixtures and suffered three defeats, with the loss against Napoli proving decisive.
The club thanked Tedesco and his staff for their professionalism and expertise, while wishing them well for the rest of their careers.
For Tedesco, 41, it is the fifth dismissal of his coaching career. His previous exits came at Schalke 04 in March 2019, RB Leipzig in September 2022, Belgium in January 2025 and Fenerbahçe in April.
Palladino arrives with a long-term deal running until June 2029. The former Monza and Fiorentina manager had been without a job since leaving Atalanta in June, where he had also been brought in to steady a difficult situation.
Bologna completed the appointment after Palladino’s contract with Atalanta was terminated. His immediate task is clear: halt a run that has left the Emilia-Romagna side near the bottom of the early Serie A table and restore momentum before the season slips further away.
