Rangers Stun Celtic as Ryan Naderi Seals Old Firm Derby Win

Ryan Naderi’s first-half finish gave Rangers a 1-0 Old Firm victory at Celtic Park on Sunday, cutting the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to two points.

Celtic had arrived with six wins from six league matches and the chance to build a significant early lead over their city rivals. Instead, the champions’ perfect start was halted in front of their own supporters.

Quick facts

  • Rangers won 1-0 away to Celtic in the Old Firm.
  • Ryan Naderi scored the only goal in the 33rd minute.
  • Celtic remain top of the table.
  • Rangers are now two points behind the leaders.
  • Celtic had won each of their previous six league games.

Naderi struck after 33 minutes to settle a tense derby and give Rangers a result with consequences beyond one afternoon in Glasgow. Celtic remain first, but their advantage is no longer as commanding as it might have been.

The result also gives Rangers supporters renewed belief after a difficult sequence of setbacks. Their club remains the only side other than Celtic to win the Scottish title since 2012, taking the crown in 2021.

For now, the title race has been pulled back into view. Celtic still set the pace, but Rangers have ensured that the season will not feel decided after six rounds.
