In Barcelona, where the club’s senior figures are shaping the next phase of the squad, Raphinha is set to remain at Camp Nou well beyond his current deal. The Brazilian forward, now Barcelona captain, has reached an agreement in principle to extend his contract until 2030.
The news from the club
Sporting director Deco confirmed at an event for Barcelona members that negotiations with Raphinha had been concluded over the previous two days. The new agreement is expected to add several years to his existing terms and keep him with the Catalan club for the next four seasons.
“On renewals, I can say that Raphinha’s is very well advanced,” Deco said. “We agreed it between yesterday and today, for a few more years. I believe Rapha will be with us for the next four years.”
Deco also referred to the contract extensions involving Bernal and Xavi Spar, as Barcelona continue their work on securing players considered important to the club’s future.
Raphinha arrived in Catalonia from Leeds United in July 2022, in a transfer valued at around €58 million. He had renewed his Barcelona contract last year, taking it through to 2028, but had already made clear that he hoped to extend his stay again.
The 28-year-old had spoken of his wish to finish his playing career at Barcelona. Explaining his earlier renewal, he said he had initially planned around reaching the age of 30 or 31 before assessing his future, but his strong start to the season altered that perspective.
“I do intend to renew,” Raphinha said. “When I signed until 2028, I was thinking about being 30 or 31 and did not know how things would develop. But with the way the season began, it feels as though I still have years ahead of me. I would be very happy to extend my contract.”
