Roma will resume work at Trigoria tomorrow after four days off, beginning the long build-up to the Serie A trip to Como on 11 October.
Gian Piero Gasperini will return to the training ground without 12 players currently away on international duty, leaving the coach to prepare the early stages of the week with a reduced group.
There is, however, hope of recovering several players who remained in Rome because of fitness concerns. Donyell Malen, Bryan Cristante and Wesley are expected to rejoin the available squad during the coming days, giving Gasperini useful options as the Como fixture approaches.
Dybala keeps working through the break
Paulo Dybala has not taken a complete pause during the international window. The forward was again in the gym yesterday as he continues his individual programme.
He is now expected to stay in Rome rather than make the long return journey to South America for Lionel Messi’s farewell celebration. Nahuel Molina is also understood to be leaning towards missing the event, avoiding two transatlantic flights during the break.
For Roma, the immediate priority is the return to daily work at Trigoria and the gradual reintegration of those recovering from physical problems, before the international players come back for the next league chapter at Como.
