Roma left Como with their unbeaten record intact but a sense of a missed opening, held to a fierce 0-0 draw after playing the second half with 10 men at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Roma denied despite early pressure
- In the 11th minute, Lorenzo Pellegrini came closest to breaking the deadlock when his effort struck the right-hand post of Como goalkeeper Jean Butez.
- The contest remained open and fast-paced, with chances at both ends but neither side able to find the finish required in a lively Serie A sixth-round meeting.
- Roma’s task became significantly harder in the 53rd minute, when Donyell Malen was sent off for an uncontrolled, desperate tackle on Kaiki.
- Down to 10 players, the Giallorossi resisted Como’s attempts to take control, but could not create the decisive moment themselves before the final whistle.
A point that changes little for Como
The result was the first goalless draw of the Serie A season and prevented Roma from moving, at least temporarily, level with leaders Inter Milan. Roma remain unbeaten, though this was a missed chance to turn that consistency into a statement at the top of the table.
Como stayed sixth, directly behind AC Milan, who were due to face Sassuolo later on Sunday at 18:00. For the home side, the clean sheet and point represented a solid return against opponents who had to dig in after Malen’s dismissal.
