Roma’s Champions League campaign moves into its second League Phase match with Real Madrid arriving as the next test, a meeting that places Gian Piero Gasperini’s side against José Mourinho’s European pedigree.
The decision
Roma are listed in a 3-4-2-1 shape, with Pierluigi Gollini in goal behind Gianluca Mancini and Evan Ndicka. One projected version has Mario Hermoso completing the back three, while another names Leonardo Balerdi in that role.
Rensch and Wesley are set to work the flanks, with Marten de Roon and Manu Koné in central midfield. Paulo Dybala and Matías Soulé support Donyell Malen in attack.
Real Madrid are expected to use a 4-2-3-1 under Mourinho. Thibaut Courtois starts in goal, with Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté and Marc Cucurella named in defence. The central defensive position is listed either for Antonio Rüdiger or Dean Huijsen.
Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni form the midfield pair, while Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior are included behind Kylian Mbappé. The remaining attacking place is attributed either to Diomande or Arda Güler.
France’s François Letexier will referee the match. Cyrill Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni have been appointed as his assistants, with Bastien Dechepy serving as fourth official. The VAR team will be Dutch, led by Dennis Higler with Pol van Boekel as assistant.
The fixture will be shown live to Prime Video subscribers.
