Saddiq Bey’s return season in New Orleans has turned into a new multiyear commitment. The Pelicans are set to retain the 6-foot-8 forward on a three-year contract worth $55.5 million after he posted a career-best scoring average coming off a full season lost to an ACL tear.

Pelicans keep a scoring wing in the fold
Bey arrived in New Orleans after earlier NBA stops with Detroit and Atlanta, carrying the résumé of a former first-round pick who had already shown he could handle volume minutes on the wing. Brooklyn selected him with the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft before his rights moved through the league.
The major question around Bey had been his recovery after the torn anterior cruciate ligament that sidelined him for an entire season. He answered it by returning with the strongest scoring output of his career, averaging 17.7 points.
The new agreement gives the Pelicans cost certainty on a productive forward while keeping Bey in their rotation beyond a one-year prove-it return.
