Seattle and San Francisco head into their Week 5 meeting with sharply different recent storylines from their previous clashes. The Seahawks’ defense has been the decisive unit in each of the last two matchups between the NFC West rivals.
Quick facts
- Seattle’s defense led the way in the teams’ two most recent meetings.
- The 49ers enter Week 5 carrying momentum.
- Quarterback Brock Purdy is part of San Francisco’s recent surge.
San Francisco arrives with Brock Purdy and the offense playing well, giving the 49ers a different kind of confidence than they carried into the earlier meetings.
The central question for Week 5 is whether Seattle can again make the game tilt on defense, or whether Purdy can keep the 49ers’ momentum going against a familiar division opponent.
