Napoli Face Frosinone With Injury-Hit Squad After International Break

Napoli return from the international break with a shortened squad for tonight’s Serie A meeting with Frosinone at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, scheduled for 20:45. The sixth-round fixture brings Massimiliano Alvini’s side to Naples, while Massimiliano Allegri must balance the immediate demands of the match with several injury concerns.

A reduced Napoli group for Frosinone

Allegri has selected 21 players for the home match, but the break has added to an already significant injury list. Vergara and Favasuli are unavailable, while Mathías Olivera is also expected to miss out despite being close to receiving medical clearance.

The longer-term absentees remain Alessandro Buongiorno, Alisson Santos and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa. Their continued absence leaves Napoli needing to manage their resources carefully as the league schedule resumes.

  • Vergara is unavailable for the Frosinone match.
  • Favasuli will also miss the sixth-round fixture.
  • Olivera is nearing a return but is not expected to be involved.
  • Buongiorno, Alisson Santos and Anguissa remain on the long-term injury list.

Spinazzola returns and McTominay is back in contention

There is better news for Leonardo Spinazzola, who has returned to the coach’s options after his absence. Scott McTominay has also recovered sufficiently to be included in the squad.

The Scotland international is not expected to start, however. His involvement is likely to be carefully managed, with an appearance of around 20 to 30 minutes anticipated as he works his way back towards full match fitness.

The 21 players selected by Allegri

  • Benoît Badiashile
  • Sam Beukema
  • Nikita Contini
  • Kevin De Bruyne
  • Giovanni Di Lorenzo
  • Billy Gilmour
  • Giovane
  • Rasmus Hojlund
  • Noa Lang
  • Stanislav Lobotka
  • Lorenzo Lucca
  • Luca Marianucci
  • Rafa Marín
  • Scott McTominay
  • Alex Meret
  • Vanja Milinković-Savić
  • Milton Pereyra
  • David Neres
  • Matteo Politano
  • Amir Rrahmani
  • Leonardo Spinazzola

For Napoli, the evening is an opportunity to restart their Serie A rhythm after the pause, even if Allegri’s available choices remain shaped by fitness rather than preference. Frosinone arrive for a fixture that will test the home side’s depth as much as their result.
