Singapore GP Qualifying: Antonelli Leads as Ferrari Chase Pole

Singapore’s Saturday has already carried the strain of a long championship into the floodlit streets of Marina Bay. Rain turned the Sprint into an unsettled contest, while Kimi Antonelli strengthened his position over George Russell at the top of the standings. There is still one important evening appointment before Sunday’s Grand Prix: qualifying, delayed but no less decisive for Ferrari’s hopes.

In the championship

The Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session will begin at 15:30 Italian time, 30 minutes later than originally planned. The delay follows the wet conditions that slowed the afternoon Sprint race on the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The pit lane is scheduled to open for Q1 at 15:30, with the Grand Prix itself set for Sunday 11 October at 14:00 Italian time.

Antonelli emerged from the Sprint with a larger championship advantage over Russell. Behind Sprint winner Max Verstappen, Ferrari put both cars on the podium, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc confirming the team’s encouraging form around the Singapore circuit.

That result gives Ferrari a solid platform heading into qualifying, where Hamilton and Leclerc will look to turn their pace into a front-row challenge and, if conditions allow, a bid for pole position.

  1. Rain complicated and delayed the Sprint race.
  2. Antonelli extended his championship lead over Russell.
  3. Verstappen won the Sprint, followed by Hamilton and Leclerc.
  4. Qualifying was moved back by half an hour, with Q1 due at 15:30 Italian time.

Weather remains one of the principal variables for the session, as does the lesson of the Sprint: on this narrow street circuit, the smallest margin can shape Sunday afternoon’s race.
