Tengstedt’s Double Fires Toulouse Past Le Havre Despite Ankle Injury

Casper Tengstedt turned a doubtful morning into Toulouse’s first win of the season, scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over Le Havre on Saturday despite carrying an ankle problem from training.

The Danish forward had injured his ankle on Thursday and did not take part in Friday’s session. His availability remained uncertain until the day of the match.

Quick facts

  • Casper Tengstedt scored two of Toulouse’s goals.
  • He had suffered an ankle sprain in training on Thursday.
  • Tengstedt missed Friday’s training session.
  • The win was Toulouse’s first of the season.
  • Tengstedt now has three goals this campaign.

Jens Berthel Askou said Tengstedt was assessed again on Saturday morning before Toulouse made the decision to include him. The striker had been close to missing the match altogether.

“He did not train yesterday after twisting his ankle,” Askou said after the game. “He was not certain to play. We tested him this morning before deciding to take the risk.”

The gamble gave Toulouse the edge in a five-goal contest and handed Tengstedt a personal lift as well. His brace took him to three goals for the season, while the Violets finally opened their winning account.
