Ty Jerome, Tyrese Maxey Claim NBA’s First Weekly Awards of 2026-27

Memphis guard Ty Jerome and Philadelphia guard Tyrese Maxey have opened the 2026-27 NBA season with the league’s first weekly honors, taking Western Conference and Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards for games played from Oct. 20 through Oct. 25.

Jerome sets the West pace

  1. Jerome earned the Western Conference award after averaging 34.7 points and 6.0 assists per game for the Grizzlies.
  2. He shot 56.3 percent from the field during the opening week, pairing high-volume scoring with efficient work from the guard spot.
  3. The West nominee group also included Lakers guards Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves, Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Rockets guard-forward Amen Thompson.

For Memphis, Jerome’s first-week production gave the Grizzlies a guard who was creating shots, finishing possessions and keeping the offense moving. His 34.7-point average was the headline number, while the 6.0 assists showed how much of the ballhandling load ran through him.

Maxey claims the East award

  1. Maxey was selected as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after posting 28.8 points per game for Philadelphia.
  2. The 76ers guard also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the season’s first award window.
  3. Eastern Conference nominees included Pistons guard Cade Cunningham; Hawks guard Dyson Daniels and forward Jalen Johnson; and Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and forward Pascal Siakam.

Maxey’s opening-week line reflected his all-around role in Philadelphia’s backcourt: nearly 29 points a night, plus playmaking and work on the glass. The first weekly awards of the season put Jerome and Maxey on the board early, with the next set of honors to follow the league’s next full week of games.
