Tyler Huntley Set to Start Again as Lamar Jackson Misses Browns Game

The Baltimore Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson again Sunday, leaving Tyler Huntley to make a second straight start in an AFC North road matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Jackson remains sidelined

  1. Jackson hurt his ankle in Baltimore’s Week 4 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
  2. The two-time AP NFL MVP did not take part in any practice this week.
  3. Ravens coach Jesse Minter ruled Jackson out Friday, confirming that the quarterback will miss consecutive games.
  4. The absence ensures Jackson will sit out multiple games in a season for the second year in a row and for the fourth time across his six NFL seasons.

Jackson’s continued absence raises questions about the extent of the ankle injury, but Baltimore will turn its attention to protecting first place in the division with Huntley under center.

Huntley gets 13th Baltimore start

Huntley will make his 13th career start for the Ravens when Baltimore visits Cleveland. He has posted a 6-6 record in his first 12 starts.

The quarterback is coming off a dramatic Week 5 performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Huntley struggled for much of the night before closing regulation and overtime with 11 consecutive completions, helping the Ravens secure a 30-23 win.

Tyler Huntley vs. Falcons Week 5
Passing 24 of 32, 201 yards, 2 touchdowns
Rushing touchdowns 1
Team result Ravens won 30-23 in overtime

Familiar faces in Cleveland

Huntley has previously spent time with the Browns on two occasions, though he did not appear in a game for Cleveland.

The Browns are led by first-year head coach Todd Monken, Baltimore’s offensive coordinator over the previous three seasons. Monken’s background with the Ravens gives him extensive familiarity with both Jackson and Huntley.

The Ravens enter Sunday at 4-1, while Cleveland is 3-2. Kickoff at the Browns is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
