Udinese Hit by Zaniolo and Gueye Injuries Ahead of Serie A Return

Udinese return to the rhythm of the season with two rehabilitation programmes under way, as Idrissa Gueye and Nicolò Zaniolo deal with separate injuries that will shape the club’s immediate preparations.

The coach and the club

The Friulani have confirmed that Gueye suffered an ankle sprain during the friendly against Pogon. The Senegalese player has already begun treatment, but Udinese have not set a target date for his return. His condition will be reviewed week by week.

Zaniolo’s absence is clearer, if still unwelcome. While away with Italy, the attacker sustained a hamstring injury in his right thigh. He is now back in Udine and has started his recovery work at the club’s facilities.

  1. Gueye picked up an ankle problem in the Pogon friendly and entered a rehabilitation programme.
  2. Zaniolo was injured during Italy duty, with examinations confirming damage to the right hamstring.
  3. Udinese expect Zaniolo to be available again in around three to four weeks.

For Zaniolo, the projected lay-off means at least three weeks out and could extend to a month. It is another muscular interruption for the former Roma player, who had already experienced a similar issue in August.

Udinese will therefore manage the coming weeks with caution: Gueye’s progress remains open-ended, while Zaniolo faces a defined recovery period before he can return to the group.
