RC Lens have been fined €15,000 by UEFA after pyrotechnics were used by their supporters during the Champions League trip to Slavia Prague.
The sanction follows Lens’ 3-2 victory in Prague on Thursday, 10 September. UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled that the club were responsible for the use of pyrotechnic devices in the away section.
Lens have also received a suspended ban on their travelling supporters’ allocation. The measure will remain under probation for two years, meaning any further relevant incident during that period could lead to the closure of the club’s away end at a European fixture.
The decision comes after a memorable night on the pitch for the French side, who left Prague with a 3-2 win, but UEFA’s disciplinary review has brought a financial penalty and a warning over future supporter conduct.
