Virtus Bologna and Maxima Roma arrive at the PalaDozza with Europe still fresh in their minds, but Sunday evening now turns the focus to the second round of the 2026/27 LBA Serie A season.
European momentum meets in Bologna
- Virtus Bologna come into the fixture after a dramatic EuroLeague victory over reigning European champions Olympiacos, secured at the buzzer.
- Maxima Roma also enjoyed a convincing continental midweek, opening their EuroCup campaign with a 34-point win against Cluj-Napoca.
- The two sides meet in Bologna on Sunday 4 October, with tip-off scheduled for 18:15 at the PalaDozza.
The contest brings together two teams lifted by very different European nights: Virtus, coached by Mumbrù, found a last-second answer against Olympiacos, while Cotelli’s Roma made an emphatic start in the EuroCup.
For both clubs, the league fixture is an early test of how European confidence can carry into the domestic calendar. Virtus will play before their own crowd in one of Italian basketball’s traditional arenas, while Roma travel north after a performance that set a strong early tone for their season.
