Wales Rally Past Norway 2-1 in Nations League Clash

Cardiff’s evening belonged to Wales, who overturned an early Norway lead to secure a 2-1 Nations League victory and bring their Group A4 campaign back to life.

Oscar Bobb put Norway ahead after 11 minutes, but Daniel James restored parity before half-time and Neco Williams completed the turnaround shortly after the interval. Norway’s task became markedly harder when Torbjorn Heggem was sent off at the beginning of the second half.

Erling Haaland was held without a goal as Norway suffered a second defeat in three matches. The visitors had also been forced into an early defensive change, with Borussia Dortmund full-back Julian Ryerson leaving the match through injury after Bobb’s opener.

Wales find a route back

Wales had arrived in Cardiff without a point or a goal from their opening two fixtures, having lost to both Portugal and Denmark. Bobb’s strike threatened to extend that barren run, but the home side responded with greater urgency and levelled through James before the break.

The balance shifted decisively in the opening moments of the second half when Heggem received his dismissal. With the extra man, Wales pressed their advantage and Williams supplied the goal that sealed their first win of the competition.

Group A4 tightened below Portugal

The result leaves Wales on three points, alongside Norway and Denmark, while Portugal remain clear at the top after taking nine points from their first three games.
