Seville’s Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium watched Spain make another emphatic statement in the UEFA Nations League, sweeping past Croatia 4-1 to preserve a perfect start after two matches. Lamine Yamal supplied two goals and an assist as the home side reached six points at the top of Group C.
The evening began at high speed. Yamal opened the scoring shortly after kick-off, meeting a delivery from the left with a first-time finish across the area and into the far corner. Spain had Croatia pinned back for long periods, and Pau Cubarsí almost doubled the advantage in the 20th minute when his long-range effort drifted narrowly wide of the post.
Croatia found a response through Dion Beljo, who converted Ivan Perisic’s accurate cross from the left with a composed finish. Their equaliser briefly altered the mood in Seville, but it lasted only three minutes. Marc Pubill restored Spain’s lead from inside the box after Yamal had created the opening.
Spain thought they had added another before the interval when Mikel Oyarzabal finished a move, only for the goal to be ruled out because the earlier pass had been played from an offside position.
The hosts did not allow that decision to slow them after the break. Pedri set up Yamal for his second goal, with the young forward driving a close-range shot inside the goalkeeper’s near post. It was another decisive contribution from the attacker, who had already shaped the match with his early strike and assist.
Nico Williams completed the scoring late on with the standout individual finish of the night. Receiving Mikel Merino’s pass near the edge of the penalty area, he used a stepover to make space before striking powerfully beyond the Croatian goalkeeper.
The 4-1 result keeps Spain unbeaten and leaves them with six points from their opening two Group C fixtures, while Croatia depart Andalusia after being unable to contain a Spanish side that found goals from across its attacking line.
