France are expected to begin Zidane’s first game in charge with the shape rehearsed during recent training sessions, as the new head coach prepares his side to face Turkey on Friday evening.
Maxence Lacroix is in line to start at centre-back alongside Dayot Upamecano after Ibrahima Konaté was ruled out of the international gathering. Konaté’s withdrawal has opened the door for Lacroix to take a place in the starting defence for Zidane’s debut on the bench.
Adrien Truffert is expected to be selected at left-back, ahead of Andy Diouf. The decision gives Truffert the projected role on the left side of a reshaped French defensive unit.
Further forward, Kylian Mbappé is set to operate from the left of the attacking trio rather than through the middle.
