Alessia Russo has been voted England Women’s Player of the Season for 2025-26, with supporters choosing the Arsenal forward ahead of Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton.
Quick facts
- Russo, 27, wins the fan-voted award for the second time in three years.
- She scored 13 league goals last season, the highest total by an English player in the Women’s Super League.
- Only Manchester City’s Jamaica striker Khadija Shaw, with 21 goals, finished above her in the overall scoring standings.
- Russo scored five times in 10 appearances for England.
- She is among the 30 nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
The 27-year-old Arsenal striker had already claimed the individual honour two years ago, and her latest recognition follows another productive campaign at club and international level.
Her 13 goals made her the leading English scorer in the league last season. Shaw was the only player to post a higher total, finishing with 21 for Manchester City.
Russo also made an impact for the Lionesses, scoring five goals across 10 matches. Her form has placed her on the 30-player shortlist for the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
“Receiving this award is really special, especially because it comes directly from the supporters,” Russo said after the vote.
