Armando González Becomes Greece Super League’s Most Valuable Player

In Piraeus, where Olympiacos have turned to a Mexican forward fresh from Guadalajara, Armando González has made an immediate financial impression as well as a sporting one. Less than three months after leaving Chivas, the 2025-26 Liga MX scorer is now assessed as the most valuable player in Greece’s Super League.

Key takeaways

  • Armando González’s estimated transfer value stands between €23 million and €27 million, with a separate figure of €24.42 million also listed.
  • The Olympiacos striker ranks ahead of PAOK midfielder Christos Zafeiris in the Greek Super League valuation table.
  • Olympiacos paid roughly $12 million for 80 per cent of González’s rights after his prolific Chivas campaign.
  • Before his European move, Transfermarkt had placed González’s value at $15 million.
  • The Mexican forward scored 24 Liga MX goals and 25 in all competitions during the 2025-26 season.

Leading Greece’s valuation table

The CIES Football Observatory assessment puts González, known as “La Hormiga”, at the top of the Super League market estimates. The figure is an indication of potential transfer value rather than a fixed asking price from Olympiacos.

Christos Zafeiris of PAOK is second on the list at €21.84 million, while González’s Olympiacos teammate Joel Rocha completes the leading three with an estimated value of €20.63 million.

Further down the same ranking are Panathinaikos midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, valued at €18.19 million, and Olympiacos midfielder Gustavo Puerta at €17.84 million. González’s position above them all underlines how sharply his standing has risen since swapping Guadalajara for the port city outside Athens.

From Guadalajara goals to Piraeus

González arrived in Greece after a standout final season with Chivas. He scored 24 times in Liga MX and registered 25 goals across all competitions in 2025-26, producing notable displays in matches against Atlas, América and Pumas.

That output persuaded Olympiacos to commit around $12 million for an 80 per cent share of the forward’s rights. His estimated value has since moved beyond the $15 million valuation assigned before his departure from Mexico, placing the 2025-26 Chivas graduate among the most highly rated assets in Greek football.
