Atalanta Confirm Serious Kossounou Thigh Injury Following Tests

Atalanta will have to manage the next stage of the season without Odilon Kossounou, whose left-thigh injury has ruled out an immediate return after the international break.

The decision

Medical examinations have found a moderate-to-severe injury to the biceps femoris muscle in Kossounou’s left thigh. The defender has already begun his rehabilitation programme, but the club do not expect him to be available as soon as domestic football resumes following the international window.

Kossounou had missed Atalanta’s away match against Juventus, yet his absence comes after an important opening contribution: he had started each of the Bergamo side’s first four Serie A fixtures.

The situation also leaves Atalanta with further fitness work elsewhere in the squad. Isak Hien and Kamaldeen Sulemana remain on treatment as the coaching staff assess their respective recoveries.
