In the familiar heat of a Colombian clásico, Atlético Nacional found the edge that carried them into the Copa Colombia semi-finals, turning a local contest into another significant stop on their route through the cup.
The match swung on decisive moments involving Frank Fabra, whose own goal put Nacional on their way before he later conceded a penalty. Edwin Cardona was also central to the winning performance, providing the influence required in a tie where the margin for error had narrowed sharply.
Atlético Nacional’s players celebrated the victory at the final whistle, having secured passage to the last four of the competition. For the club from Medellín, the reward was not merely survival in the cup but the satisfaction of taking a clásico on a night with a semi-final place at stake.
