Barcelona Teammates Back Lamine Yamal’s Ballon d’Or Bid

Barcelona’s dressing room has added its voice to Lamine Yamal’s Ballon d’Or candidacy, with several teammates publicly backing the young Spain international after his latest decisive display.

Support arrives after Racing rout

Yamal shared photographs from Barcelona’s 7-2 win over Racing de Santander on Wednesday, a match in which he scored once and supplied two assists. The post soon became a small showcase of support from within the Catalan club.

  • Raphinha called Yamal “a phenomenon” and described him as “my Ballon d’Or”.
  • Fermín López responded: “There is no debate.”
  • João Cancelo labelled his teammate a “star”.

The 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist includes Yamal, and the messages reflected Barcelona’s clear preference as the individual-award discussion gathers pace across the European game.

Mbappé also enters the conversation

The Barcelona players’ online backing comes as Kylian Mbappé has emerged as another prominent contender for the prize. The French forward has recently spoken of his excitement about the award and said he is confident that he will be chosen as its winner.

Those comments have intensified the debate among supporters and in the football media, turning the approach to the ceremony into an increasingly visible campaign season. In Barcelona, however, the messages after the Racing victory left little doubt over whom the squad wants to see recognised.
