Barcelona’s season is moving through its autumn stretch with the transfer market shut until January, yet Jules Koundé’s situation is already drawing attention beyond Catalonia. The 27-year-old France international has emerged as a possible target for two of Europe’s most prominent clubs, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea both monitoring a potential opening.
In Munich, Koundé is being considered as an option at right-back. Bayern’s interest is tied to the expected departure of Sacha Boey: should the German champions move the defender on, the Barcelona player would become their leading candidate for the position.
Chelsea are also assessing Koundé as they look to strengthen their defensive unit. Within the London club’s sporting structure, a move for the Frenchman is regarded as one of the more widely supported possibilities as plans take shape for a future window.
The decision will ultimately rest heavily on Koundé’s role at Barcelona over the coming months. He has not carried the same level of prominence this season as in previous campaigns, and his involvement between now and January could determine whether he remains committed to the club or tells Barcelona that he wants a new chapter elsewhere.
