Bilal Laurendon has taken his first senior step away from Paris. The 20-year-old Moroccan goalkeeper has joined Dubai club Shabab Al-Ahli after leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expired on 30 June.
The move
Laurendon arrives at Shabab Al-Ahli as a free agent, seeking the regular first-team football that did not come during his time in the PSG system.
The goalkeeper has one cap for Morocco’s Under-20 side and will join a club currently sitting third in the United Arab Emirates championship. Shabab Al-Ahli’s squad also includes Belgium defender Wout Faes and Iran forward Sardar Azmoun.
For Laurendon, the move offers a route into senior football and the chance to begin building a professional career after his development years in Paris.
The French season around it
Laurendon did not make a competitive appearance for PSG’s senior team. He did, however, make the matchday bench for the Ligue 1 home draw against Lorient on 2 May, a game that finished 2-2.
His departure follows the end of his Paris contract on 30 June, closing a spell in which he remained on the edge of the first-team picture without getting onto the pitch.
