Bologna have made an early change on the bench, dismissing Domenico Tedesco after four Serie A rounds and handing the team to Raffaele Palladino on a contract running until 30 June 2029.
The decision
The Rossoblù have acted after a difficult opening to the championship, ending Tedesco’s spell in charge with immediate effect. The club thanked the outgoing coach for the professionalism and competence shown during his work, extending its best wishes to him and his staff for the future.
Palladino takes over the first team and was due to lead his first training session at 16:00 at the Casteldebole training centre. The length of his agreement, through to the summer of 2029, gives Bologna a clear indication that this is intended as more than a short-term response to a poor start.
Tedesco left Casteldebole without disclosing the details of his meeting with the club. He said those discussions would remain private, but spoke warmly of the reception he had received in Bologna.
“What was said with the club stays between us,” Tedesco said. “I can say that this city welcomed me wonderfully and I would have liked to give more back. I am very sorry, but this is football. These people deserve a great deal.”
The former Bologna coach also reflected on the support around the side, despite having experienced the stadium only twice during his time in charge. He described both the matchday atmosphere and the feeling around the city as special, adding that he was deeply disappointed to leave.

Bologna’s board has moved after collecting just one point from the first four league fixtures. The only draw came against Sassuolo, while defeats to Lazio, Atalanta and Napoli left the club without the start it had expected.
Palladino now inherits a side whose season has barely begun but has already reached a decisive junction. Four rounds have been enough for Bologna to redraw their technical direction; the next Sunday afternoon will begin the first test of that choice.
